A nurse by training, Nora McGuire worked in the intensive care unit at Sisters Hospital before transitioning to the business side of health care. Today, as the senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Independent Health, she leads her team in the development of communications strategies that reach nearly 400,000 members and the broader Western New York community. In her talk, Nora will discuss her open, equitable leadership style, the challenges of today's complex health care industry, and how she and her team cut through that clutter to best serve the organization's stakeholders, with key takeaways you can apply in any industry.

Nora McGuire is responsible for initiating, developing and implementing Independent Health's sales, marketing and product development strategies. She develops comprehensive strategic marketing and sales plans, including targeting market segments, identifying the types of products developed and offered, product placement, product pricing and promotion. She also directs the development of short- and long-range marketing plans to assure the organization achieves its annual marketing goals and objectives. McGuire also is the founder of the local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and serves on several boards throughout the community.
