The DEI and Events committees are collaborating to represent PRSA Buffalo Niagara in the 2025 Juneteenth of Buffalo parade. We're looking for at least 30 PRSA Buffalo Niagara members to represent our organization by walking in our first Juneteenth parade. Will you join us?

The 1.25-mile parade route marches down Genesee Street ending at the festival site in MLK Park. The parade itself steps off at 10 a.m. from pole #1456 on Genesee Street near Ivy Street. We are part of Division 4. We will line up at 8:45 am on Genesee between Colorado & Kilhoffer Street. Look for 425, our assigned number, painted on the street and park at the curb.

For easy access please enter Genesee Street going west bound from Bailey Avenue.

Only vehicles participating in the parade will enter from bailey and Genesee. PRSA has one (1) vehicle. All other vehicles must enter down other streets and park. PRSA vehicle should wait or park at the curb near your number until the parade marshal gives you instruction. Look for Porsha or Sam.

PRSA Buffalo Niagara T--shirts are in!

Juneteenth is strict about each group being in uniform in order to enter the lineup.

Suggested parking areas before, during and after the parade: Fougeron Street, Girard Place, Riley Street, or Urban Street. Also available is East Community High School parking lot at 820 Northampton Street. Please be courteous to our residents when parking. Let’s be Good Neighbors.

Shuttle bus locations: Layover on Fillmore past Urban (facing E. Ferry). Route: Continue Fillmore, right E. Ferry, right Bailey, right Genessee, right Kehr, left Urban, right Fillmore, and layover. Pick up/drop off along the parade route WHEN SAFE TO DO SO.

More about Juneteenth of Buffalo: Juneteenth of Buffalo is one of the most attended cultural summer festivals, attracting thousands of participants. The atmosphere is alive with the sounds of jazz, R&B, Neo-soul, and gospel music, mingling with the enticing aromas of food from local vendors. It's a time for dancing, shopping, laughter, shared joy, and spontaneous reunions, transforming the festival into a cherished homecoming. The Juneteenth of Buffalo parade is a vibrant, high-energy celebration that brings the community together in a powerful display of culture, passion, and pride. Participating organizations, including major corporations, nonprofits, youth groups, and schools, gather with matching floats to celebrate Juneteenth in WNY.
Juneteenth Background: Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. Its origins trace back to the spring of 1865, at the close of the Civil War, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the emancipation of all enslaved people. The news sparked spontaneous celebrations among the newly freed; thus, Juneteenth was born. Over the years, Juneteenth commemorations featuring music, barbecues, prayer services, and other joyful activities spread from Texas throughout the United States. Juneteenth has been commemorated annually with a festival in Buffalo since 1976. Today, Buffalo hosts the second-largest Juneteenth Festival in the country.
